Louise Wins Woman in Construction and Engineering Award
Thursday 01st April, 2010
Louise Brooke-Smith Director of the Birmingham office of CSJ Brooke Smith has been awarded the coveted Woman in Construction & Engineering Award at this year's ‘National Women on Their Way' awards ceremony.
These national awards, which took place at Aston Villa Football Club, saw over 300 VIPs, celebrities, key players and movers and shakers from the business community in attendance.
Louise was selected by the judges to receive the Woman in Construction award, for her high level work in what is largely a male-dominated industry sector. This was both in terms of her career achievements and successes with major construction challenges as well as her contribution to the professional bodies RICS and RTPI. Louise was widely acknowledged by the judging panel as being someone whose busy life and achievements make her standout from her peers, while also taking the time to aid the development of the careers of other women.
On collecting her award, Louise Brooke-Smith commented: "I am extremely honoured to receive this national award for 'Woman in Construction' 2010 and particularly pleased to see the WoW organisation promote the construction industry, acknowledging that women play an increasingly important part of the industry. While it has been badly hit by the recession, the construction industry is now recovering and given its historic importance as a major element of the UK's GDP, the sooner new development starts emerging again, the better. The nature of my work within CSJ Brooke Smith gives me a wide and varied role in numerous planning and development projects across the UK - something which I enjoy immensely. The opportunities it also opens up in international initiatives within the profession are both an added bonus and a challenge that I relish".
